Looking forward to another sunny weekend in Seattle.  Hopefully hiking,  exploring new places,  good eats, and maybe a little en plein air painting.

On saturday morning, painting in the park. This is towards the end of the painting session. I’ve got about two hours in me before I start making more mistakes than anything good. I also take small breaks through out to snap a pic. and step back and SEE.

We found the perfect spot under a canopy of trees and stayed in the shade the entire time.

I bought the little guy  from Seattle Asian Art museum. I knew I had to paint him the moment I saw him.

The past few weekends I’ve been painting out in Seattle Parks. Its been fun,a bit of a learning experience and highly addictive. I hope to make it a regular thing.  I bought the easel a few years ago at Utrech. Its a little fussy to put together and I need to figure out something else for the shelf that hold the painting. But it compacts nicely and is much lighter than my french easel.

Pond at Seattle Arboretum Park.  I’m still getting used to painting with people around me. Generally people stand at a good distance. I really don’t mind people coming over and watching a bit or even having a small chat. Its part of the whole urban painting thing.  But yesterday a group set up a birthday party not 3 feet away from me and I had a hard time with the noise and commotion. My poor painting suffered in my frustration. I took some photos of the pond so I’m going to try and save it.

I’m working with batiks for for the first time. Why did I stay away for so long? I love with the bright colors. The fabric is sturdier then I thought and its so easy to sew.

I’ve made a few tissue cases for The Etsy shop. This one is with my new Navy Blue Batik fabric.
